What is a Reseller?
A Reseller is basically a small Hosting company. Unlike the larger Web Hosting companies who have their own Dedicated Servers that they Host websites on, a Reseller will rent a space on a Server belonging to another company and Host websites from that space. For instance, a C4C Media customer would pay C4C Media for a portion of web space to Host their site on. A C4C Media Reseller would pay C4C Media for a portion of web space, and their customers would in turn pay the C4C Media Reseller to Host on their web space.
What are the benefits of being a Reseller?
Being a Reseller allows you to start up a small Hosting portfolio without the expense and technical expertise required to fund and run your own Servers and Datacentre, allowing you to concentrate on the service you provide to your customers on your terms. You rent a set amount of space and a monthly bandwidth allowance, and you are then free to Host as you see fit - as long as you stick to your terms and conditions with us, your space and bandwidth limits, and the agreed number of possible Hosted Domains.
How many Domains can I host at once?
This depends entirely on what package you choose. The high end C4C Media Reseller package, Web Developer, allows up to 200 Domains to be Hosted at once. If you are looking to Host more than 200 sites, or your customer base grows beyond this number, you will want to consider Dedicated Hosting.
Do customers place an order with you to Host their Domains?
No. They are your customers, using a product that you have purchased from C4C Media. You will add them to your C4C Media account, they will be on C4C Media web space and using C4C Media bandwidth, but you have purchased these things from C4C Media already - it is up to you to have an order system in place for your customers.
What happens if I go over my Bandwidth Limit?
If you go over your Bandwidth Limit, we will not shut down your site or cut off traffic to and from it. We will, however, contact you to arrange for an extension to your monthly allowance. You will also be billed for any overage.
How much control do I have over my customers?
Through the Plesk™ Control Panel, you have full control over your customers. You can, if you wish, fully manage them yourself. Alternatively, you can set up Control Panel logins for all your customers, and set their permissions and what you would like them to be able to change. If you don’t want a customer to be able to set up mail accounts, you can deny them access; if you want them to be able to change their DNS settings, you can enable it for them. Their account is yours to configure as you wish.
Can I have my own logos in the Plesk™ Control Panel?
This depends on your Hosting package. If you are using our PHP 5 service, you are able use your own logos in the Control Panel. Customers who are not on the PHP 5 service will be unable to use custom logos in the Control Panel.
Do I get an Invoice?
Every time you buy a product from C4C Media, we will email you an invoice. We don’t believe in wasting paper so paper copies of Invoices will not be provided. Invoices are, however, available to view and print (if you choose!) at any time in your online account management area.
Do you charge Tax?
Yes .
If you would like to make a purchase and you reside outside of the US, please contact a member of the C4C Media team by email or calling us on 1-800-275-9507.
What are the details for the C4C Media name servers?
If you wish to change the name servers of an existing Domain so that you can use C4C Media Hosting, you need to enter the following name servers. We have listed the IP’s of the name servers as well, as some registrars require this information:
ns.yourdomainname.extension -x
ns2.yourdomainname.extension - x
If you are using our PHP 5 enabled server, you will have to use the following details instead:
ns3.c4cmedia.com -x
ns4.c4cmedia.com - x
Changing the name servers can take up to 24 hours to propagate, so it is best to make these changes during low impact timescales (for instance, the start of the weekend, or the evening).
